About the owner, Marlé Prinsloo
After the birth of her second daughter, Marlé found it difficult to find stylish, comfortable baby basics in unique colours that she could mix and match to create new looks.
She set out to create a range for her daughter and so Maaiki was born.
Marlé spent 14 years creating and implementing effective communications strategies at PR and advertising agency Idea Engineers where she was responsible for successful local and international brands. While Maaiki is a complete career shift, experience from her previous career gave her the insight to create an online store.
One of the accounts Marlé worked on was Facebook and the idea of being able to sell directly on the platform and to easily create an ecommerce business piqued her interest. In the end, she decided to put her marketing, PR and online knowledge to good use and start up her own ecommerce business.
“The idea is to start small, leverage the power of the internet and to see where this journey takes me.
I have only recently decided to become a mompreneur to spend more quality time with my two little girls and husband. I look forward to this new chapter and hope that parents in South Africa loves Maaiki as much as I do.”
